At Ilminster Avenue Nursery School, we are delighted to introduce Caroline Kelly, our Assistant Headteacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator).
Caroline works closely with children, families, staff and other professionals to help ensure that every child is known, understood, included and supported to thrive. A key part of the role involves listening to families and building strong partnerships with parents and carers, helping to understand each child’s strengths, interests and individual needs.
Caroline supports the early identification of additional needs and helps put the right strategies and support in place as soon as possible. This can include offering SEND advice and guidance, coordinating support plans, working alongside speech and language therapists and other specialists, and supporting families through statutory processes when needed.
At the heart of Caroline’s work is a commitment to inclusive practice, ensuring that every child feels valued, belongs within the nursery community and has the opportunity to achieve their potential. Caroline also helps to support smooth transitions into nursery and on to school, making sure children and their families feel confident and well supported every step of the way.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss ways to support your child, Caroline is always happy to help.
