Parents and carers were welcomed into the Star Room at Ilminster Avenue Nursery School to learn about everything the children have been exploring this term. Families were invited to “play a game” with their child, giving them the chance to experience first‑hand the learning that takes place through play in our nursery school.
The children have been developing important early years skills, including taking turns, waiting, sharing and joining in with others. They have also been learning to notice groups on dice (subitising), use correspondence by moving their counter the same number of spaces, match objects and follow the rules of simple games. These experiences support key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), particularly early mathematical development and personal, social and emotional development.
Everyone had a fabulous afternoon, and it was wonderful to see families engaged in play and learning alongside their children.
