March 2026 Newsletter – Term 4

Feb 27, 2026

Welcome to Term 4!

Spring feels like it is finally on its way!

This term we hope to be using this feeling to start refurbishing our sensory garden in the courtyard. This time last year we were lucky enough to receive a grant for £700 to purchase wildflowers, grasses and plants to create an area that will attract butterflies and Moths. The funding was from “Wild Spaces”, and we improved our little courtyard in the middle of the school. We will be maintaining it this INSET day to make sure it is as beautiful as last year.

This year we’ve been even more fortunate as we are receiving a grant for £5,000 to help make an area on our site more bio diverse. The “barked” area in the large garden will be getting a revamp. During the Easter hols, “Bricks and Bloom” are coming to create an area to grow plants, herbs and vegetables. It will include planters with seating, a sunshade and a “bird hide”. The area will also be protected from bikes etc., so it will be especially safe for our children who need physical support.

We are really excited to see the improvements!

E-Safety

Keeping children safe when using the technology is something that Parents/Carers need to be aware of even when they are very young. Teach your child some simple rules from the time they begin to engage with technology.

Use secure and legal sites to download games. Websites such as CBBC have great games for children that you know will be safe and appropriate.

Young children become very good at finding what they want to view. It is important as a Parent/Carer that you are aware of what they are accessing.

Use Children’s YouTube as this a safer forum. Sit with your child whilst they play games etc so that you can be sure they are safe.

Nurture Room Refurb

Lucy’s room has had a refurb this year! It’s been painted and now the flooring has been changed. She has also had a reorganisation. This is so that we have a beautiful space for Nurture activites, both for parents and children. Lucy is highly expereinced and trained in things such as Sand Therapy and the Nurture Programme. This means she can provide support to both parnets and children. We are really lucky to have her and now we are lucky to have a lovely space to provide this in!

Lucy works Tuesday- Fridays, if you ever feel you need extra support….in whatever way….please pop in and see her.

World Book Day

World Book Day will take place on Wednesday 4th March at our school this year. We would love if the children could dress up as their favourite book character or in their PJ’s ready for a “bedtime story”!

The children will be having lots of lovely activities to encourage a love of books and stories. They will be having cosy book shares, story treasure hunts and making props for their own story telling.

If your child has a favourite book that they would like to bring and share, then please do but make sure they have their name in the front of the book.

Thank you.

Family Link

This is a great time of year to focus on supporting your child with toilet training, especially for those that will be moving onto school in September.

Please talk to your child’s key worker/class teacher about ways of getting started. If this is proving to be a challenging time, Lucy can offer lots of different ideas and support. Please do come and see her if this would be helpful.

Term 4 Curriculum

This term our Curriculum focus is “Play A Game”. The children will be learning all the skills needed to play a variety of games, both inside and outside. The children will be exploring all areas of the curriculum through this focus.

They will focus on turn taking, making their own decisions, building on new vocabulary, using dice and “subitising” to see how many, corresponding moving a piece on a board the same number of spaces as dots on the dice as well as coming up with their own ideas for simple games.

Please join us on Tuesday 24th March and/or Thursday 26th March at 2.15pm to play games with your children and find out about all the skills they have learnt.

They will also be exploring ways of solving their own problems, developing their independent self-help skills, building new vocabulary, telling and recording their own stories, exploring rhymes and making their own words that rhyme and making marks with control, including drawing recognisable “people”.

The children in our 3 and 4-year-old classes have loved creating their own stories and we have loved seeing the ways they find to find solutions to the problems that happen in their stories!

Healthy Eating

Last term the children learnt all about making themselves a healthy snack. This term we will be focusing on healthy packed lunches. It can be really tricky to think about what to put in those lunch boxes every day! We’ve produced a leaflet to help you with ideas.

We will also be sending out some pics via Tapestry on good, simple ideas for lunch boxes. It’s really great to see the progress we have made this year with reducing sugary drinks and snacks….you are all amazing!
