Star Room Gets Chopping: Making Healthy Wraps from Scratch

Feb 24, 2026

Children in Star Room at Ilminster Avenue Nursery School have been getting stuck into one of their curriculum goals in the most delicious way possible, making their very own healthy wraps!

The children have been exploring a variety of fruits and vegetables, discovering how they look, feel and smell, before using safe knives to chop their ingredients and put their wraps together. It has been a fantastic way to build early fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and the sense of pride the children felt in making something themselves was just brilliant to see.

When children are involved in preparing their own food, they are so much more likely to try new things and develop positive attitudes towards healthy eating, and that is something they will carry with them for years to come.
