A Wonderful Start: Raindrops Room Settles In and Gets Exploring

Feb 23, 2026

Term 3 has been a really special one in Raindrops Room at Ilminster Avenue Nursery School. We have welcomed lots of new children into our setting, and it has been an absolute joy to watch them settle in, find their feet and begin exploring everything our environment has to offer.

From painting and building to sand play and beyond, the children have been diving into new experiences with real curiosity and enthusiasm. This kind of open-ended exploration is so important in the early years, giving children the freedom to investigate, discover and begin making sense of the world around them.

As part of our curriculum, the children have also been working towards making a healthy snack. They have been getting hands-on with a range of fruits and vegetables, exploring how they look, feel and smell, before using safe knives to chop and spoons to scoop and mix. These activities are brilliant for building early fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, whilst also nurturing the natural curiosity and independence that we love to see in our children.

We are so proud of how brilliantly our new children have settled, and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for them.
