A Message From Carolyn

Nov 21, 2025

We are writing to share some important news with our nursery community. Carolyn, our much-loved SENDCo, will be leaving Ilminster Avenue Nursery School at the end of this term after an extraordinary 30 years of dedicated service to our children and families.

Carolyn has touched the lives of countless children during her time here, working as a nursery teacher, then in our specialist provision, and most recently as our SENDCo. Her commitment, expertise and compassion have been invaluable to our school, and she will be greatly missed by children, families and staff alike.

Carolyn asked us to share this message and thanks with you all:

Hello to you all,

I expect that many of you know by now that I will be leaving at the end of this term after nearly 30 years at Ilminster Avenue Nursery School, and what an amazing place to have had as part of my life for so long. So long, in fact, that some of the children I taught are now returning as parents!

During my time here, I spent eight  years as a nursery teacher, then seventeen years as a teacher in Class 5- our previous class of children with complex needs – before becoming SENDCo.

I feel privileged to have known and worked with so many incredible children and families, along with our wonderful staff team.

Like life, it has brought me laughter, joy, tears, frustration and fulfilment and I would not have wanted to be anywhere else.

So I am leaving with a sense of excitement and sorrow, along with curiosity about what will be coming next for me and for our nursery in the future, as exciting changes are happening all the time.

I want to say a massive thank you to you all-children, families and colleagues, both past and present, for having such an incredible impact on me and for all the love and support over the years.

Wishing all of you all the best for the future,

Carolyn
