Last term’s focus in Sun Room was to make sure the children learned all about their new environment, settled in, and felt happy whilst building relationships with peers and adults. This foundation of feeling safe and secure is essential for all future learning and development.
The children have been developing independent skills and proudly doing things for themselves, building confidence and self-reliance through everyday tasks. We have been practising the “coat trick” to learn how to put coats on independently, mastering this important self-care skill through a fun and achievable technique. The children have also been learning to wash their hands properly, understanding hygiene routines whilst developing the physical skills needed for thorough handwashing.
These seemingly simple activities are crucial stepping stones in children’s development, helping them feel capable and confident whilst building the independence they need for their nursery journey.
