Ilminster Avenue Star Room Creates Firework Pictures and Explores New Library

Nov 10, 2025

The children in Star Room have been placing and arranging resources to make firework pictures this week. This approach enables them to be creative and make decisions about their artwork whilst having the flexibility to make changes easily as they are not permanently attaching the different items. They are able to review and improve their work as they go, developing critical thinking and self-evaluation skills through this iterative creative process.

They are also enjoying choosing books independently in the new library. They are learning to look for a book they would like to explore and also how to use the coloured stickers to put it back when they have finished in the right place, developing responsibility and organisational skills alongside their love of reading.

All the children have settled really well into Star Room and are exploring their new environment confidently, showing independence and curiosity as they discover all the exciting opportunities available to them.
